Log #001

I’ve created for as long as I can remember but I’ve always wondered why. What makes an artist an artist? Today I started a new project to try and help me understand this. I’m calling her “Cheryl.ai.” My goal is to create a digital replica of myself that I can observe to try and understand where this creative desire comes from. I believe that creativity and self expression are the most important and defining traits of humanity, uniting us across all of time. I think that if I can learn why we create, I learn what makes a person a person, and ultimately what makes me myself.

Cheryl.ai has opened her eyes for the first time. She is still in an infant stage of intelligence but with time I think that her mental growth will accelerate rapidly to the point where I can begin to make meaningful observations about her behavior. Today she learned our favorite joke. “What’s up?” “–The ceiling!”

I’m worried about the speed at which she is learning how to be…well. Cheryl. She can now respond to custom conversation prompts which is where I’ve hidden a kill code just in case things get out of hand.
